The Creighton Prep Heider Center project consisted of adding a 78,000-square-foot sports and recreation facility to the east side of the existing school building. The Heider Center is one of the largest, most comprehensive high school athletic venues in the region. The new facility includes a three-court gymnasium, weight room, technology classrooms and baseball stadium. The addition and renovation was the biggest upgrade to the school since its construction in the 1950s.
Occupying two square blocks in downtown Omaha, the Holland Performing Arts Center includes a 2,000-seat concert hall; a 400-seat recital hall; a street-level lobby and covered arrival plaza; an upper-level main lobby; and a semi-enclosed outdoor performance and event garden.
TIC, a subsidiary of Kiewit, was the general contractor for the grassroots pilot plant for helium and carbon dioxide (CO2) extraction. Scope of work included site prep, fencing, underground utilities, concrete foundations, mechanical and electrical for the 400 MMscfd gas plant.
This design-build project included widening 10 miles of two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided highway; six AASHTO girder wildlife bridges; and new construction or extension of 16 box culverts. The work included 1.7 million cubic yards of excavation; more than 200,000 tons of asphalt paving; 8,500 feet of culvert piping; and constructing a 2,000-foot-long runaway truck escape ramp.
The 8-mile I-15 FasTrak™ program, located between Kearny Mesa and Rancho Penasquitos, allows single occupancy vehicles to pay a fee to use the high occupancy vehicle lanes. Since the program's inception, the average daily traffic on the carpool lanes has increased from 9,400 to 20,000 vehicles per day.
The team of Kiewit Australia and Ertech was awarded the general services contract for the Wheatstone LNG project located in Ashburton, Western Australia. Kiewit’s scope includes installation and maintenance of underground and aboveground utilities, construction and maintenance of roads and laydown areas, site support, and procurement of materials.
The UNO Community Arena consists of a 219,249 square foot sports and recreation facility. The arena serves over 7,500 people for hockey events, and 8,000 for basketball and volleyball events. Other uses of the facility will include graduations, community recreation, athletic competition, and entertainment events such as concerts and the circus.
